The principal objectives can be summarised as being:
“the protection of people and assets from injury and / or loss caused by intruders, fire, theft, damage, wastage or accident, so far as it is reasonably practicable, therefore minimising financial loss and the protection of people in or on the clients premises”.

To prevent and / or detect:
• Access by unauthorised people or vehicles
• Damage
• Theft
• Unauthorised use of equipment
• Unauthorised use of keys to enter restricted or secured areas
• Loss of valuables or property
• Loss of confidential information
• Controlling access and egress of authorised people
• Assisting with the safety of visitors, contractors and employees regarding health and safety

General Responsibilities:
• Attend for work smartly and correctly dressed.
• Comply with Assignment Instructions and Workplace Risk Assessments.
• Report accidents/incidents to MITIE Security Limited staff.
• Communicate appropriately with clients.
• Report any extraneous duties to MITIE Security limited staff.

Main Duties
• Controlling access and egress of both vehicles and pedestrians in a polite and professional manner
• The searching of vehicles and visitors to secure areas utilising agreed search techniques.
• Ensuring that site locations/buildings are secure by ensuring that all people accessing are checked at the point of entry ensuring they have the right to enter.
• As far as possible ensure that no-one is allowed to proceed through security check points without complying with the requirements in force at the time.
• Supporting the delivery of security requirements and ensuring that issues that affect the security of the site are brought to the attention of the Supervisor.
• Operation and control of the barrier/gate systems.
• On-site security patrolling and other secondary security duties.

It is essential that all personnel fully demonstrate commitment to Mitie Values and the QHSE Objectives of Security / Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.

Health, Safety & Environment:
• Be responsible for doing any work safely and without risk to your Health and Safety.
• Consider the Health and Safety of Colleagues, Clients, Staff and Visitors.
• Report to your Line manager any Injury, disease, dangerous Occurrence or near misses.
• Report to your Supervisor/Line manager any Hazards from your work.
• At ALL Times comply with the assignment Instructions, Risk Assessment, Safe Methods of Work and any other procedures agreed by the Company and Client.
• Make full and correct use of any personal protective equipment/clothing and report any failure of protective equipment/clothing to your Line manager.
• Stay within the bounds of your job description and Assignment Instructions.
• Support any Environmental initiatives established by MITIE security Limited or the Client.

Person Specification
• Available to work 12 hour shifts including days, nights, public holidays and weekends either on a set shift pattern or on a relief basis, usually working a minimum of 48 hours per week in line with business demands
• Be in good health and able to run at speed over a distance of 200 metres.
• Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and be subject to random testing throughout employment.
• Able to gain and to maintain an SIA licence.
• Willing to undergo a 5 year employment check and able to account for a full 5 year history, providing evidence of all employment, unemployment, training etc during this period in line with strict vetting criteria.
• Able to provide I.D documentation proving identity, right to work and all previous and current addresses in line with strict vetting criteria.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must be courteous and professional at all times, taking pride in their personal appearance.
• Must have an excellent work ethic, be reliable and able to work as part of a team or independently.
• UK Driving licence
• Min 3 years’ experience in security market

• Role – Full Time
• Pay rate £8.50ph
• Expected salary on average of 48hrs per week is approx. £22,000pa
• Start date ASAP
• Must meet person specification
